Condolences to you, your son and family. Carolyn was a terrific friend, great mother and wife who was so positive and who only had positive things to say. We enjoyed so much together with our sons from baseball games (she never missed), halloween nights, to helping our kids get their volunteer hours, to many boating events. She some how managed to organize breakfasts and dinners with Grandma every weekend. She was always there to meet for a quick breakfast with friends too. She was an AMAZING person. She will be missed greatly.
Tanis Luckman & Logan Keef.

I am so sad and shocked to hear about Carolyn's passing. She always brought her cheerful and happy demeanour to any situation. I fondly remember many silly, laughing lunch discussions at OTI - always a smile.
My deepest condolences to Dave and the family at this difficult time.
Take care,
Dan

It is very difficult to hear the news of Carolyn's battle with cancer and the loss of such a vibrant, caring woman. Though we haven't seen Carolyn in some time, we knew she was living the dream as loving wife, devoted mother and accomplished software professional.
A beautiful spirit has left us far too soon. Tim and I will remember her fondly.
Our sincerest condolences to Dave and Jeffrey, and extended family. We wish you peace.

In my years working with Carolyn at IBM, I was always humbled and energised by the compassion, humour and technical depth she brought to discussions. Accessibility is a rewarding but also at times trying vocation. There is often no single right way to do things, yet an endless number of ways to get it wrong, no matter how well intentioned the company. And standards work? The room is full of passionate and knowledgable folks who will often shred the ideas about which you're most enthusiastic.
Carolyn faced these tough aspects of the job with endless good humour. She seemed to effortlessly balance her passion and deep knowledge with generosity and humility.
Another thing I admired about Carolyn was her curiosity and openness to new ideas. While she was recuperating from treatments last summer, she kept the discomfort and inactivity at bay with audio books. I coordinated some contributions from our team to her Audible account, and she was welcoming and enthusiastic about even my wackiest suggestions.
She was a great colleague and lovely friend. I'll miss her dearly professionally and personally.

Carolyn was a great ARIA working group member. I always appreciated the time she took reviewing and sometimes patching my pull requests to the ARIA Authoring practices to correct a mistake or make the example clearer. Always positive and encouraging and focusing on what will make the web more accessible, she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family.

I have happy memories of Carolyn when we worked together at Dy-4 in the '80s and then at OTI in the late '90s. There was always lots of laughter interspersed with hard work. Although we lost touch after I left OTI, it seems like yesterday that I saw her smile.
My condolences to Dave and to all Carolyn's loved ones.

I have known Carolyn since she was a second-year student in SCS at Carleton. At least for a while, I was her academic advisor. She brought her wonderful smile and her positive energy and her concern to others to every class, and later to Dy-4 Systems (Curtis Wright) and to OTI (Later IBM OTI Labs). I was fortunate to have many of her colleagues and classmates as students and employees.
Margaret and I were delighted when Carolyn and Dave started to date.
I had always felt that they were intended to be together. Those who attended the wedding shared a glorious celebration.
Carolyn was a very good software engineer. She was an amazing mother and a most loving and wonderful wife.
Many summers we would meet Carolyn and Dave, and later Jeffrey boating.
Unfortunately busy lives in different businesses steal away those valuable times with friends. Perhaps Carolyn has sent us a message to treasure one's friends and colleagues while one has the chance.
While it may sound trite, Carolyn truly lit up the room when she entered it and brought smiles to every face. Her smile, her cheerful always positive voice will always be in our thoughts.
Dave and Jeffrey, we offer our deepest sympathies for your loss.
Carolyn, May you rest in peace
Dave and Margaret Thomas

I remember Carolyn so well. Some of the best times of my life were spent traveling and playing competitive ringette with Carolyn and the Gloucester Devils. So much fun. Such a lovely person. My deepest condolences to you on her loss.

Most of us can only hope to live life with the joy, enthusiasm and energy that Carolyn did. We are grateful for the decades of adventures we had together. No matter what we were doing - work, vacations, boat trips, concerts, dinner parties - if Carolyn was there, we were having fun. We treasure the lifetime of memories we made together. To Dave, Jeffrey and the whole family: we can only imagine the depth of your loss. Our thoughts are with you. To Car: farewell my friend, until we meet again. Steve and Anita

So many great memories of Carolyn. From camping at Lac Philippe with marshmallows in her ears (see the picture) to riding with her on Hornet, and many more in between. Taken way too soon. My thoughts are with all of you at this impossibly difficult time.
