..I joined the family in 2001...and by that time, Bill was already retired....he had done so much that I never knew about before I even got there! I just thought that he was a really great gardener, and I enjoyed spending time with him out in the sunshine...and later on I took on some of the more arduous tasks...! His huge interest in music, gardening and literature meant that we always had something to talk about, and I was fortunate to hear him play the piano once or twice; my sister-in-law tells me that he used to play constantly. I am so grateful to the Blackie family for sharing their father with me; I witnessed so many events of love and laughter, I cannot even recount them all! And I was so blessed and grateful that my daughters were treated as part of the family: instant grandchildren and great-grandchildren as time went by!
Bill will be hugely missed by many, but we will gather comfort from each other as we reminisce about him as the years move on. God bless, God speed, Bill. xo, klb
