Obituary of Ioana Baronide
Born on October 31,1921 as the first of three children of a furs merchant. Ioana Arvanitopol started school in the natal town and upon finishing high school she attended Cluj University and then Bucharest University to study pharmacy.
She graduated in 1945 and was hired as pharmacist in the city of Targoviste, where she met and married Tache Dimitrie Baronide, a local lawyer in 1950. In 1954 they have a son, Constantin.
Six years latter, Ioana gets employment a Chief Pharmacist at the Medgidia hospital, a small town in Dobrogea where the whole family moves. In 1968 they move again in Constanta, the biggest city in Dobrogea as Chief Pharmacist at the Constanta Harbour Hospital from where she retires in 1983.
After the death of her husband in 1986, Ioana started a new career as a babysitter when her granddaughter Alexandra was born in 1991. In 1995 her son Constantin moved with his family to Canada, and in 2000 she follows them. Ioana lived in Ottawa among her loved ones until her death on May 2, 2023.
She is greatly missed by granddaughter Alexandra, daughter-in-law Dana, great grandson Noah, and son Constantin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Hillel Lodge would be appreciated.
