Obituary of Gerald Keith McDonald
IBEW Local 586 - Ret’d
Good luck heaven Gerry’s moved In and the food better be good! It is with mixed emotions that we announce Gerry’s passing on Sunday, June 4th at the age of 82. While we are sad that he is gone we know he has been reunited with his loved ones who went before him.
He was the loving and devoted husband of Susan (nee Monette) for 62 years. Father to Brent (Karen), Steven and Melanie (Greg) who he lectured profusely because he could and because he loved them so much. Proud (so proud) Grandpa of Jon, Mike, Kat, Lily, Chris, Maddie, William and Mallory as well as 5 great grandchildren. He is survived by his dear sister Irene Medveduke (the late John). He also leaves behind his nieces and nephew.
Born in Low, Quebec, the Gatineau Hills were never far from his heart. He was proud of his Irish heritage and even prouder to be a friend of Bill W. where he found friendship and received and gave support which impacted his life greatly. Gerry loved to cheer on the Ottawa Senators, the Toronto Blue Jays and the San Francisco 49ers.
A Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Thursday, June 8th from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Fallowfield, 15 Steeple Hill Crescent, Nepean on Friday, June 9th at 1:00 p.m.
Much gratitude to the staff and residents at Barrhaven Manor who welcomed Gerry and Sue into their community and created a new home for them.
For those wishing, donations may be made to the Shepherds of Good Hope or the Ottawa Mission for Men.
