Obituary of Sheila MacDonald Whitmore (nee Simpson)

Passed away on July 3rd, 2023, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She is survived by her sons Paul & Brian, her beloved granddaughter Keani (of Victoria, B.C.), and JoAnne & Peter Bradley (of Birmingham, AL).

Born in Ottawa, on December 28th, 1932, Sheila spent much of her life in the United States. Her adventurous spirit led her to a successful career with American Airlines and the eventual meeting of her future husband, John D. Whitmore. Upon their marriage in 1958, Sheila & John settled in Daytona, Florida and welcomed the birth of their first son Paul in 1961. The family then moved to Miami, Florida in 1963, where they were blessed by their second son Brian, in 1966.

Sheila worked as the Director of Medical Records at Parkway General Hospital in Miami until 1985. After which, she returned to the Ottawa region to be closer to her extended family. While in Ottawa, Sheila continued to work in medical records administration until her retirement in 2018.

Burial services will take place on July 10th, 2023, at  11am at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Rd. Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
