Obituary of Helen Strain

Surrounded by love from near and far, Helen Josephine Strain (nee Rogers) passed away peacefully on August 5th,  in her 89th year.

Pre-deceased by loving husband of 49 years , Patrick.  Cherished mother and Mother in law  to Garvin, Andrea & her husband Thomas, Cathy and James, Julia and Mark, Fiona and Douglas,  who live across Canada, United States, and Australia.

Much loved  " Nana"  to an international group of  wonderful grandchildren -  Paige (Canada) , Gianna, Joey, Nate, Jordan, Brock (Florida) , Chase and wife Elli (Belgium) ,  Samantha, Thomas and Daniel (Australia) .

Helen was born in Liverpool England, one of 13 children of Julia and Bill Rogers. She met Patrick in Liverpool and they had three children before emigrating to Canada in 1964.

Helen leaves behind a large and loving extended family living in England, and will  also be  mourned by Patricks loving family in Ireland.

A special thank you to all  the nurses and staff of Stillwater Creek Residence, along with her personal caregivers,  for the care and support of Helen and her family over the years.   The family would also like to acknowledge the professional care and support provided by  Dr.  Lodha and his team at the Royal Ottawa Hospital.

Arrangements entrusted to Coles Funeral Services and burial at Pinecrest Cemetery, next to her loving husband Patrick. In lieu of flowers,  donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society &/or Royal Ottawa Hospital,  would be greatly appreciated.

The family is holding a Private family Funeral service at St Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Bells Corners.
