I met Elena over 45 years ago as a child when my mother would visit her home on a regular basis. She was my mother's dressmaker, but in the eyes of a young girl, Elena was a magician who would take fabric and turn it into the most beautiful of creations. When my mother would try on the dresses that Elena had made with care and attention to detail, I would see my mother as a confident and beautiful woman as she looked at herself in the mirror. The clothes that Elena created were more than 'just clothes'... her clothes brought beauty and colour into our lives. She took pride in everything that she touched and crafted clothes that made any woman feel like a queen. I will always remember Elena as a kind, generous and warm woman who shared her gifts and her craft with others. She always welcomed me into her home and showed a genuine interest in the lives of both my mother and I. She was a very special lady and I feel lucky to have known her.
