Obituary of Margaret Ethel Burton (nee Terrell)

(June 10, 1942 – April 15, 2024)

Margaret Burton, known affectionately by her family and friends as Peggy, passed away in Ottawa on April 15, 2024, at the age of 81, after a brief illness.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald, her loving daughter Catharine (Phillip) Laird and her grandsons Euan and Conor Laird. Predeceased by her oldest daughter BethAnn (Jesse Smith)

Peggy was born in Toronto to Maud and Edwin Terrell on June 10, 1942. She found joy in baking, gardening and the simple joys of sharing a coffee and a chat with family and friends. Peggy will be remembered for her love of traveling, the devotion to her family and her amazing sense of humour. Peggy will be deeply missed by her loving extended family and her treasured friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society in Peggy’s memory. A Celebration of Life will take place in the autumn, where family and friends will be invited to gather to honour and celebrate her life.
