Obituary of Jeannette Caya
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jeannette Irene Caya, of Ottawa, who passed away on September 27th, 2024, at the age of 76. Born in Bracebridge, Ontario, Jeannette was the devoted daughter of the late Robert and Laureen Labossiere, and the caring sister of Karen Farnand (Bruce) and Donna Mamott (Loren).
When Jeannette was just thirteen, she met Yves Caya, the love of her life. They married in 1968 and lived together in Chelmsford, Ontario, Capreol, Ontario, and Winnipeg, Manitoba before settling in Ottawa in 1986. They set an extraordinary example of a loving and enduring marriage for future generations of their family. Jeannette was a loving and patient mother to her two beloved children: Daniel Caya (Susan) and Cynthia Yendall (Peter).
Jeannette was a born giver. She selflessly gave of herself to those closest to her and pursued careers in service to others. She began her career as a Registered Nurse and later became an educational assistant, supporting children with disabilities in the classroom. In retirement, Jeannette threw herself into being a wonderful Grams to her four grandchildren: Mackenzie, Isabelle, Grace, and Gabrielle.
Jeannette was happiest when she was spending time with her family, and she loved cooking delicious meals for her loved ones, often making enough food to send ample care packages home with each person. She had a green thumb and loved passing along her vast knowledge of plants and trees to her grandchildren. Jeannette had an incredibly calming presence and a smile that lit up every room. She had the gift of leaving a lasting impression on anyone she met with her caring way and her abundance of empathy. Jeannette was a one-of-a-kind woman and will be terribly missed by her loved ones.
A Private Family Celebration of Jeannette's Life will take place.
A memorial donation in Jeannette’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, or a charity of your choice.
