Obituary of Lloyd Reaume

Reverend Roy Lloyd Reaume, passed away peacefully at age 89 on Wednesday October 23, 2024 at the Elizabeth Bruyère Palliative Care Unit. Father of Matthew (Rolly), Andrew, and Neil (Alison) by wife Enid Ann McNeil. Grandfather to Veronica and Evan. Married Judith Ann Reaume in the year 2000, becoming stepfather of Garth (Orawan). Lloyd is also survived by sister Sandra Gorman and many nieces and nephews. 

 

Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Violet and Reginald Lloyd Reaume, sister Sylvia, and step-son John Charles. 

 

Born in 1935 in Ottawa, Lloyd was a member of the original class of Fisher Park High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University in 1959, where he played football and was awarded Male Athlete of the Year in 1957/58.

 

Lloyd attended Bishop’s University and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Divinity. He was an ordained deacon by the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa in 1961, and then a priest in 1962. Lloyd served parishes in Smith Falls, Cumberland Township, Papineau County, and Nepean before leaving the ministry.

 

Later, Lloyd went on to a second career in technical writing, initially for Mitel Corporation then independently as the co-founder of Source Communications & Associates. In retirement Lloyd kept busy working as a Commissionaire, and volunteering with Meal on Wheels. Lloyd continued to serve in various parishes and missions on a part-time basis in the Dioceses of Ottawa and of Albany NY until retiring full-time in 2010.

 

Lloyd loved the outdoors, especially canoeing and fishing on the Upper Ottawa River near the family homestead. He also loved to travel with Judy, usually taking his bike along, leading to many interesting stories and encounters. Lloyd had a fondness for baking bread and loved to garden.

 

Family and friends are invited to visit Pinecrest Remembrance, 2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa on Thursday October 31 from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm. Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm. Reception will follow.
